Free Printable Vintage Clip Art – Victorian Fashion, Home & Family Images

Most people who know me know that I am a huge lover of anything antique or vintage. I’ve recently created a larger collection of vintage clip art (see below!) but these four images are freebies for long-time Craft Jr. readers. I must admit, these four were some of my favorites in the bunch – especially that sweet Victorian doll – isn’t she adorable? These printables would make great wall art, iron-on transfers for pillows or other fabric crafts, or would be great for digital scrapbooking!

Printable Halloween Templates

Craft templates are pretty popular around here because they can be used so many ways – for stencils, cookie cutters, decorations, banners, scrapbooking… whatever. Here’s a new set of Halloween shapes for any of your crafting needs. While these could also be used as pumpkin carving stencils, I’ve included a big list below of other stencils just for pumpkin carving, too.

Printable Bubble Letters

We’ve got some really cool printable letters across the Woo! Jr. Network – the bunny letters and the flower letters are particularly popular. But there are a lot of uses for just plain old ordinary bubble letters, like for craft patterns, quilting, banners, lettering, scrapbooking… oh, I could sit here and think of more uses, but you probably can think of more than I can.

Here’s an entire bubble letter printable alphabet A to Z, including a smaller set on one page. Also, because so many people asked for them, here’s a new set of lowercase bubble letters, and bubble numbers and special characters too!

Make Masquerade Masks

I’ve always loved those gorgeous & intricate feather masquerade masks – and I always figured they were very difficult to make. I have discovered that they can actually be really easy to make! And as a side note, if you plan on making these for yourself, don’t let any little girls get a hold of them. They will walk off with them and you’ll never see it again.

Masquerade Mask Craft Materials List

Black crafting foam sheet

Colored crafting feathers

Fake flower petals

Hot glue gun plus Elmer’s glue

Glitter

Elastic thread or ribbon

How to Make Masquerade Masks

Print out the mask template and trace it onto your foam craft sheet. I suppose you could make a more temporary mask if you printed out onto card stock (which is why I gave you two color choices). But I honestly don’t know how well it would hold up on paper. Just sayin’.

You can’t see it very well in the photo, but I also poked holes on the sides to add elastic when done.

Pick out feathers that you can glue symmetrically to both sides of the mask. I chose three colors and made sure that each color had a ‘twin’ that was about the same length and width. Once you have enough to go around the edges, start gluing them in place with the hot glue gun. I used 10 feathers in my masquerade mask, because I didn’t want them pointing down and tickling the heck out of my face.

This part doesn’t need to be particularly neat or pretty – it will soon get covered up.

After the feathers are in place, cut some petals from a fake flower into the shape you want. I used two almost half circles for each side and a small group of four petals for the center top of the mask.

Glue the petals over the feather stems with the hot glue gun.

Here’s the mask with all the feathers and petals hot-glued in place:

Now it’s time to break out the Elmer’s glue – the hot glue gun won’t work for this part. Use a generous amount to cover up the base of the petals, being very careful to make a precise outline around the eye holes:

Then put it onto a piece of paper and dump a ton of glitter on your glue.

And just leave it there until it dries.

I know it’s hard. Don’t touch it.

But when it’s dry – you’re pretty much done!

Simply slip some elastic thread or ribbon in your holes and wear it with glee!

Halloween T-Shirt Iron Ons

I was digging around in some old artwork of mine today, and came up with a new idea for Craft Jr. – printable iron ons! These things are awesome – simply print these Halloween designs out on ink jet iron-on transfer paper and iron them onto t shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags (ooooo! Make trick or treat bags!), whatever your heart desires. You could make adorable Halloween party favors with these too!

I don’t get to draw too often these days anymore, so when I get to put up a post with my own hand-drawn artwork, I get way excited. :) So if you use these, I’d be even happier if you uploaded a picture of your project in the comments on this page!

Special printing note: PLEASE do a test run on your printer’s draft setting before you print these out onto your expensive iron-on-transfer paper! You may need to adjust your printer settings to get these at the size you want. At the VERY least, use the Print Preview!!

Fall Kitchen Crafts: Owl Towels

I can’t tell you how much I love saying “Owl Towels” out loud. Go ahead and try it – it’s so much fun! OK, craft geekiness aside, this cute fall craft for kids is something I made last year, then gave to my mom. The kids helped with cutting and sewing on the buttons – I really only did the ironing so that they wouldn’t burn themselves. This is a great stash-busting project – you only need a tiny amount of fabric to pull it off.

Fusible web interfacing

Fabric scraps

Tea towels (washed to remove sizing and ironed)

How to Make This Easy Kids Kitchen Craft

Print out our free owl template:

Then iron on your fusible web interfacing onto the back of your fabric scraps. Be sure to keep the wax paper on the outside intact and follow the manufacturer instructions closely to ensure a strong bond:

Using Fusible Web Interfacing for Applique

Trace the owl body, eye and beak parts onto different pieces of fabric. You may want to be very strategic about placement if you want the fabric pattern to line up with the pieces. For example, you can see that I traced the circles so that they centered on flowers in the fabric design. This, of course, is a moot point if you are using solids or a tiny pattern.

Wash and iron your tea towels.

Cut out the pieces and arrange them onto your tea towels as desired. Fusible web is so great for applique, because you can move things around to your heart’s content until you get things exactly where you want them.

Iron the applique pieces in place according to the interfacing instructions.

Then sew pretty buttons into the middle of the owl’s eyes, and you are done!

Printable Vintage Halloween Cards

I am kind of obsessed with vintage Halloween stuff this year. I’ve been collecting old Halloween decorations on Ebay and Etsy since last winter! I’m trying to decide if the beginning of September is too early to start putting them out – what do you think?

Leaf Template Printables

I received a request today from one of our newsletter subscribers, asking for autumn leaf templates. Easy enough, I thought, plus I needed a little inspiration after our long three day Labor Day weekend, anyway! (Yes, I do ‘take requests’!)
