Mardi Gras Mask Craft {and Template}

My kids love playing dress-up, and with Mardi Gras right around the corner, it’s a perfect time to get out those sequins and make some masks! This is a great project suitable for younger children, We have a more ambitious feather and glitter Mardi Gras masquerade mask project right here, and also some super-simple to make printable masquerade masks, in case you’re really in a hurry!

You’ll need:

  • printable mask template below
  • cardstock or other heavy paper
  • string pearls and plastic gems (or other decorations)
  • plastic straw
  • ribbon
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun or craft glue

Start by printing out the mask template.

Cut it out. This will be your template for making your mask.

Trace your template onto your card stock.

And cut your mask out.

Now it’s time for the fun part! Get all your gems, pearl string, or any other decorations together.

Glue the pearl string around the eye holes and around the outside of the mask.

Now you can glue your gems on, where ever you’d like! You can make your mask as fancy or as simple as you want.

To make the holding stick for your mask, you’ll need a plastic straw and ribbon.

Make the stick pretty by wrapping it up

Take your ribbon, and glue it to the top of the straw at an angle.

Wrap it all the way down the straw.

And glue it at the end!

Use glue at the end to hold the ribbon in place and attach it to the mask

Glue the top of your ribbon-covered straw to the corner of the backside of your mask. You’re all done!
